How to Use the Archaeological Excavation Project Proposal Template

Unearth the full potential of your research pitch! Whether you are seeking academic grant funding, institutional approval, or field excavation permits, this parchment-themed template gives your proposal a historic, professional look.

Here is your customized step-by-step guide to setting up your proposal in PowerPoint and Canva.

How to Edit in Microsoft PowerPoint

Step 1: Unlock Your Field Notes: Download the .pptx file and open it in PowerPoint. Click the yellow Enable Editing bar at the top of your screen to unlock all scroll frames, text containers, and graphic icons.

Step 2: Fill in Site Details & Methodology: Click directly inside the scroll text fields on slides like Site Description, Historical Background, and Excavation Methodology. Replace the default copy with your specific dig site coordinates, historical research, and field techniques.

Step 3: Update Timelines & Grant Budgets: Head to the Project Timeline and Budget Overview slides. Click the text boxes near the pickaxe icons and scroll data charts to enter your field excavation phases, equipment costs, and laboratory testing budgets.

Step 4: Replace Visuals & Maps: Swap out the default statue and ruin photos with your own field site maps, aerial drone footage, or artifact images. Right-click any photo placeholder, select Change Picture, and upload your file.

Step 5: Present to the Review Board: Save your changes. Go to the Slide Show tab and click From Beginning to pitch your proposal live, or go to File > Export to create a high-resolution PDF for grant committees.
