How to Use the Teacher Portfolio Template

Follow this step-by-step guide to easily customize the layouts, drop in your educational background, and showcase your teaching success:

For Microsoft PowerPoint Users

• Unlock the Template Layouts: Download the portfolio file to your computer. Open it in PowerPoint and click Enable Editing on the top yellow notification bar to unlock all text boxes, custom rounded frames, and layout shapes.
• Personalize Your Career Text: Click directly inside the placeholder text blocks on the introduction, philosophy, and experience slides to type in your name, contact details, educational background, and employment history.
• Swap the Teacher Portrats: To replace the placeholder teacher and classroom images with your own photos, right-click the graphic element, select Change Picture, and upload your high-resolution headshot or classroom photos straight from your device.
• Update Your Success Metrics: Navigate to the data-driven slides. Click inside the large, bold blue number fields to type over the placeholder percentages with your actual student pass rates and classroom engagement stats.
• Deliver or Export Your Portfolio: Save your finalized deck. You can run the presentation full screen by going to the Slide Show tab and selecting From Beginning, or navigate to File > Save As to export it as a polished PDF for job applications.

For Canva Users

• Copy the Theme to Your Dashboard: Click your provided Canva access link to view the portfolio slides in your web browser. Click on File in the top-left menu bar and select Make a copy to save a fully editable version to your personal account.
• Edit Your Pedagogical Details: Double-click any text field or list container on slides like "Classroom Strategies" or "Approach to Education" to overwrite the template copy with your specific teaching methodologies.
• Drag-and-Drop Professional Media: Upload your professional headshots and active teaching photos to your Canva sidebar library, then drag and drop them directly into the pre-shaped image frames to automatically crop them.
• Adjust Your Stats and Brand Colors: Double-click the metric layout fields to update your career scores and statistics. If you want to change the sage green panels to match a specific school color, click the shape, tap the color box on the top toolbar, and choose a new hue.
• Share Your Digital Portfolio: Review your complete deck in grid view to check the flow. When you are ready, click the Present icon in the upper right corner to display it full screen, or click Share > Download to save it as a high-quality PDF.
